Goodbye Cruel World!

As you may have noticed, my experiment with blogging in the style of a 12 year old girl was brief, painful and not particularly well received.

Well Mr. Internet Pants, I don't like you either. ;-P

If you google stalked me, you may be interested in my open source project, GrassyKnoll.

KILL ALL HUMANS!!!

From #chipy:
[11:07] chibot: buy me a coke
[11:07] cmcavoy: Error: "buy" is not a valid command.
[11:07] chibot: quit your backtalk robot!
[11:07] cmcavoy: Error: You don't have the owner capability. If you think that you should have this capability, be sure that you are identified before trying again. The 'whoami' command can tell you if you're identified.
[11:07] though for channel-oriented commands like seen you then need to add #channel to the command
[11:08] chibot: error
[11:08] cmcavoy: Error: "error" is not a valid command.
[11:08] chibot: killahuman
[11:08] cmcavoy: Error: "killahuman" is not a valid command.
[11:08] where's this getting logged to?
[11:08] right, have to make a persiflage plugin for Chris
[11:09] * pfein dies laughing

EVDO on EDGY

Had some trouble getting my EVDO card working on Edgy . I have a Kyocera KPC650 (also spelled KPC-650 for googlers). While it worked just fine in Dapper, usbserial didn't feel like recognizing it in Edgy.

Anyway, short version is that 2.6.20 supports the card with the airprime driver. Using this patch, it works with 2.6.17 just great.

I'll upload my compiled module, as soon as I figure out how to use this thing.

Update:
Looks like the bastards won't let me upload non-image files. BASTARDS!

I WILL NOT DRINK THE KOOL AID

Last night, in #twisted...

[20:55] pfein: slightly OT: any suggestions on a non-Twisted packaged that provides similar functionality to twisted.manhole?
[21:04] dash: input()
[21:04] dash: it's a builtin
[21:05] * pfein smacks head
[21:06] * pfein smacks dash
[21:06] dash: pfein: what
[21:06] dash: how's that not what you wanted
[21:07] pfein: My small intestine just leapt up & strangled my brain in a mercy killing.
[21:08] dash: woot
[21:09] pfein: dash: have you ever used manhole?
[21:10] dash: yes, in fact.
[21:11] pfein: so how in Guido's sweet name could you possibly think I'm looking for input() ?
[21:12] dash: pfein: well first i'm trying to understand why you aren't using twisted
[21:12] pfein: wow, that took a whole 8 minutes, I was totally expecting less.
[21:12] dash: all i can guess is that you are writing a program that doesn't do network communication
[21:13] dash: so input() seemed ok
[21:13] pfein: dash: *maybe, just MAYBE* I'm writing a nework program that doesn't use Twisted
[21:14] dash: what an outlandish concept
[21:15] radix: maybe the allegra guy has something
[21:15] radix: you should talk to him.
[21:16] Jerub: there's something in wsgi
[21:16] pfein: Jerub: the turbogears ajax thing?
[21:16] Jerub: pfein: gosh, I dunno.
[21:16] Jerub: I'd just use manhole.
[21:18] * pfein just kills himself.

Hot CRUD Vids

  • Turbogears
  • SQLObject
  • AJAX
[22:58] hot CRUD vids: http://checkandshare.com/catwalk/
[23:07] pfein_: you almost look like one of all spammers we have seen the last days, they join, paste a link to some hot content and are gone again
[23:07] * casey was just about to say the same.
[23:07] * casey puts away the tar and feathers
[23:08] * aurynn tars and feathers anyway
[23:10] yeah, except that's for real. Python based
[23:10] it's still CRUD tho
[23:11] * aurynn lights the tar on fire

OMG! CUTE!!!

We are genetically programmed to respond.

I still don't like babies.

I'm in a Wifi Commerical

EVDO is awesome. Cool places to use it:

  • on the stoop of an abandonned building
  • in a community garden
  • under a bridge
  • in North Carolina, preferrably:
    • driving a car at 75 MPH
    • with your girlfriend
EVDO is not WiFi - it's cellular.

Edit:
It's far easier to mindlessly link sensitive information than one would imagine.

OOH, SHINY RSS!

How does one get syndicated?

I asked the nice people at PlanetPython by email. But seeing as I write like a 12 year old girl, I'd understand if they turned me down.

Are you supposed to actually read something in it's entirety before linking it? Who has time for that?

This blogging thing is strange.

And drafts? What?

Why I work at home

Because chai, espresso and green tea cost 35 cents to make yourself.

Because you can pick the CD.

Because you can talk as loud as you want on your cell phone.

Because if you weren't a hermit at heart, you wouldn't be a computer programmer.
